Sampling
1 April 2015, Kocába, Litavka, Vltava (Czech Republic)
A first sampling of water, macrozoobenthos and sediments was held on 1 April 2014.
The sampling was realized in cooperation with partner company Povodí Vltavy s.p.
During the sampling a uniform methodology of sediment sampling was also agreed.
The first part of the sampling was held on the Kocába river, where deaths of noble crayfish were observed last year.
The monitoring site of the Kocába river (site R047 - Kocába above Drhovský stream) is located under a system of ponds, some of which are currently waterless.
The occurence of invasive spiny-cheek crayfish at Papežský pond was confirmed, which was probably the cause of death of the native noble crayfish.
The second sampling was made on the watercourse Litavka, where invasive crayfish are currently found.
Massive mortality of the native noble crayfish was registered here too (in 2011).
