T. G. Masaryk Water Research Institute, p.r.i. (Czech Republic)

T. G. Masaryk Water Research Institute, public research institution (TGM WRI, p.r.i.), is the direct successor of the State Hydrological Institute, which was founded in 1919.

TGM WRI, p.r.i., is an organisation focused both on applied and basic research, providing research solutions in water management and waste management.

The research activity in TGM WRI, p.r.i., focuses mainly on hydrosphere and its protection. Special emphasis is put on evaluation of selected phenomena and processes within the environment, specific anthropogenic impacts and degrees of their severity as threats to the environment, development of systems of corrective and preventive measures, including proposals for mechanisms to be implemented in relevant legislative instruments.


NINA

Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (Norway)

The Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) is as an independent foundation focusing on environmental research emphasising the interaction between human society, natural resources and biodiversity. NINA was established in 1988. The headquarters are located in Trondheim, with branches in Tromso, Lillehammer and Oslo, and the research station Ims in Rogaland.

NINA aims to be recognised nationally and internationally for its expertise in applied ecological research. NINA’s activities include research, environmental monitoring, counselling and evaluation. The main goal is to provide effective solutions for a sustainablefuture based on solid knowledge about species and populations, ecology, use of natural resources and attitudes towards nature.

Biodiversity, fish and game management, predators and conflicts related to predators, renewable energy, restoration ecology and impacts of climate change are examples of topics covered by NINA. The institute also runs several national monitoring programmes of wild salmon, seabirds and large ungulates. Active dialogue and dissemination is of key importance for NINA’s work.

Povodí Vltavy, State Enterprise (Czech Republic)

Povodí Vltavy, State Enterprise, administrates important and significant minor watercourses, manages and maintaines state-owned waterworks with the entitlement to manage.

Povodí Vltavy, State Enterprise, continues the best national tradition and know-how of Czech water management. The main goal is to improve a versatile use of surface water and groundwater within the whole hydrological Vltava River Basin, so as this area survive as an important place for its healthy environment and a full-value life for people.
